10th Zambia Health Research Conference

Theme: Public Health Emergencies: Leveraging Research and Scientific Innovations to Prevent Future Pandemics and other Public Health Threats
Zambia hosts a Biennial International Research Conference; a premier interdisciplinary event that offers a platform dedicated to discussing the most recent scientific innovations, and discoveries, as well as practical challenges encountered and solutions adopted for improving the health of the population. This year’s Zambia Health Research Conference is scheduled to take place from 19th to 21st October 2022 in Lusaka under the theme: Public Health Emergencies: Leveraging Research and Scientific Innovations to Prevent Future Pandemics and other Public Health Threats . COVID-19 is one of the largest historical pandemics to ravage the world, affecting millions of people, young and old, the world over. Since 2019, over 2 million people globally have died from the pandemic; coupled with a myriad of negative effects, impacting various sectors and ultimately impeding progress towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In response to this pandemic, various sectors turned to research and innovation in order to provide both immediate and long-term solutions to safeguard the lives of people. Therefore, this year’s conference theme offers a platform for sharing and harnessing research evidence and scientific innovation on the Covid-19 and other pandemics for better future emergency preparedness. We believe that taking deliberate action now will effectively preserve both current and future populations against new Public Health threats that lie ahead. This is a key moment in history. The actualization of this goal is only possible with research, as research will continue to be one of the critical levers to end and prevent pandemics
